About Chris

Chris Mello was a 1994 Rye High School Graduate. He was one of many victims killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack. Chris excelled as student athlete playing baseball. football and basketball. After graduation, Chris went on to Princeton and later became a Financial Analyst in Boston.

In memory of Chris’ love of sports, a special Scholarship was established in 2002 by the Mello family and friends. Each year a member of Rye and Harrison football teams is awarded this scholarship at the annual Rye and Harrison rivalry game. The scholarship awards sportsmanship, competitiveness, academic achievement and leadership, all traits Chris exhibited. There have been 44 scholarship recipients since 2002. This year’s game will be played at Harrison on Saturday, September 2.
